Celestial

Good news! I finally replaced my old dSLR with a new one. So from now on, expect better photos on my blog! YAAAYYY. I swear, I worked really hard to pay for my own camera! I actually got it on the third day of the SuperSale Bazaar and speaking of which, here’s what I wore on that day.

I believe all my fashion prayers were answered when I saw this colorful, versatile and fun high-low dress! Tumblr is choc-a-block with wonderful galaxy prints, right? Hence, I took inspiration from different blog backgrounds and picture overlays. I paired the dress with my H&M blazer, a killer pair of heels, and fierce and fabulous accessories!

By the time this gets published, I’ll probably be shopping at Chatuchak Market in Bangkok.

Dressed in Motley

I wore this to a day full of errands. I wanted to wear something casual – so I could move around easily – but still fashionable. I paired a multi-colored knit top with a pair of red shorts. When I visited Mango’s Rockwell branch, I actually saw a lot of shorts in various styles and colors. Nonetheless, I picked red because apparently, the color equates to being bold and being a risk-taker when it comes to style. So ladies, when in doubt, wear red! As for my accessories, I opted to match my top and shorts with bangles from the same palette, and brown sunglasses and beige suede fringe bag to offset my bright outfit.

From runway to reality, Mango’s collections can be rocked and the Spring/Summer 2012 collection isn’t an exception. I absolutely love the simplicity of their latest pieces and the fact that the possibilities of wearing them are endless! Everything screams laid-back glamour!

Upcycled Circuit

As a fashion student (and a former fine arts student), I regularly search the web for inspirational images.  In fact, I keep a file on my computer called ‘inspiration’. It’s even divided into sub-folders for all different categories I feel they best belong to. Recently, however, some of my files have been damaged due to computer viruses. I don’t know exactly how it happened because I’m not extremely tech-savvy, but after that incident, I realized that antivirus software is something no computer user should be without.

“Files which have been damaged by computer viruses”, are according to Wikipedia, “normally damaged beyond recovery. Anti-virus software removes the virus code from the file during disinfection, but this does not always restore the file to its undamaged state. In such circumstances, damaged files can only be restored from existing backups; installed software that is damaged requires re-installation”. So if you like saving photos from the Internet as much as I do, you should always have a backup of all your precious files to prevent data loss in case of logical or hardware damage.

Speaking of computers, have you ever imagined an accessory made of computer innards? Well, electronic hardware takes a surprisingly pretty turn with Milan-based art director, designer, and self-described “alchemical experimenter” Paola Mirai’s Cirkùita collection. I’ve seen some accessories made from old circuit boards, but none as luxe-looking as those by her. Her collection changes pieces of old technology devices such as computer parts, clock springs, watch cogs, and other technological detritus, into elegant fashion accessories. She suspends these castoff parts in a home-brewed resin called Orotrasparente.

Now the once hidden parts are for the entire world to see and we can simply appreciate their beauty. I think it’s a brilliant move on her part. It’s amazing how she discovered the veiled personality of discarded electronic components. It’s difficult to reuse and make tech look up-to-date in a good way. You would never know it’s reused and to me that’s when design is successful. Watch the making of video below:

Resurgence of Serpentine

Most of you know that I have a strong penchant for leopard prints and other big cat prints, but this time around, I let my head be turned by the python (clearly, it’s faux). This sleek and sexy black-and-cream straight-cut snakeskin print dress from Mango injects a double dose of exotic texture and liveliness. It features a V-neckline and three-quarter sleeves, making it the perfect day-to-evening dress! If you’re having issues (as many do) with how to wear the print without overdoing it, just remember to keep everything in moderation and pair your snakeskin garment or accessory with black or neutrals. This dress couldn’t be more minimal – in terms of silhouette and texture – and yet, the silver cuff, the studded bangle, and the quilted bag with silver chain made my look more exquisite and extravagant!

(MANGO dress, cuff, studded bangle and bag; Asian Vogue wedges)

This dress actually reminds me of one of my fashion icons — Kate Moss! According to various fashion and style sites, she was spotted a couple of times donning a snakeskin print dress while out and about in London. She epitomizes everything I love about laid-back British fashion! I adore how she delivers rock ‘n’ roll in a cool and classy manner. With her effortlessly chic style, she has attitude and edge without even trying!

Safari Excursion

I decided to fit the fiery hot trend into my outfit — The Safari look! I was a bit worried about looking like a zookeeper or an actual safari guide (HAHA!), but the contrasting earth tones, bold animal print, and intricate beads saved my life and gave my look a modern twist! They can definitely take a tailored look from stiff to playful and expressive. The colorful accessories gave my rather simple top and skirt an extra boost. I think that the art of accessorizing is the secret to looking great in even the most basic clothes!

(MANGO shirt, skirt with belt, necklace, bangles and bag; F&H x Andre Chang heels)

I’m an incoming senior student and as early as now, my batchmates and I are already preparing for our graduation fashion show this October. We need to raise funds for the big event so I decided to share my booth with them and asked them if they’re willing to make a contribution by including and selling their designs (by the way, we made the jacket below!), other D-I-Y’s, and old chic clothes and accessories, among others. Naturally, they said yes! We see this as a great opportunity to help subsidize our continuing efforts to deliver an awe-inspiring show!

The blogger with the most number of ‘likes’ will get two booths for free and the blogger booths will be arranged according to the number of likes.  If you have time, please like our poster on Facebook! It would only take 10 seconds or less! Thank you so much!!! :)

Thanks to the Bloggers United team and the SuperSale team for inviting me to set up my own booth for me to sell my designs! I HOPE TO SEE YOU GUYS THERE!

P.S. Have you joined my ASIAN VOGUE GIVEAWAY?
