Being in Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort is like taking a refuge from reality. For travellers pursuing an ongoing love affair with the sea, there’s much to savor here. They ask little of you – just bring the necessities and few plans, if any.
Sumilon is a small island in the southern region of Cebu. However, we didn’t book our flights to Cebu from Manila, we opted for Dumaguete because that route would get us to our destination faster. From Sibulan Airport, we embarked on a 1 hour and 30 minute-journey and rode two cars and hopped on two boats before arriving at Bluewater Sumilon. I was told that if the guest would be coming from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it would take more than 3 hours going to the island. Fret not because once you get off the plane, someone will assist you all throughout the way. Talk about service!
One can never be bored at Bluewater Sumilon. Why? There’s an awesome sandbar, direct access to the beach with snorkelling opportunities, a lagoon where you can enjoy kayaking and fish feeding, a hiking trail with sweeping panoramic views, and resort facilities such as an infinity pool and jacuzzi. You can enjoy a massage with a view at Amuma Spa for ultimate pampering or enjoy local and international cuisines at The Pavilion. Another thing worth mentioning was the abundance of hammocks and lounge chairs scattered around the resort!
They can also arrange tours and excursions for all their guests. Given that Bluewater Sumilon is located in Oslob and it’s our first time in the area, naturally, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to swim with the whalesharks and visit the mesmerizing Tumalog Falls! Had we stayed longer, we would have been able to explore the others wonders that Oslob has to offer – at least there are more reasons for us to come back!
