Payphone

I’m into all kinds of music. I like pop, rock, R&B, hip hop, and dance/house music to name a few. Although I’m into a wide range of music and artists/bands, one of my favorite bands will always be Maroon 5. I’ve been a fan of Maroon 5 since their first album came out. I can relate to most of their songs. I also love their latest album, “Overexposed,” even though they’re taking a slightly different approach in some of their newer hits. Every artist goes through changes and musical maturity. Perhaps Maroon 5 is just going through theirs.

Regardless of which direction Maroon 5 decides to take with their music, they seem to be doing great. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the band. Especially Adam Levine. His face. His abs. His tattoos. His style. His demeanor. His everything. You know what I mean? HAHAHA.

And because I like the song “Payphone,” I made an illustration inspired by it.

Speaking of Payphone, I accidentally discovered a few months ago an amazing cover of the song on YouTube. Honestly, I think it’s even better than the original (sorry, Adam).

His name is Leroy Sanchez! Nobody could possibly fathom my intense liking for him so much that I made two illustrations for him and posted it on my personal Instagram account (which is full of fashion-related photos). Hahaha! Fortunately, he liked my photos, reposted them on his own Instagram account and he followed me. OOOMMMGGG! It’s safe to say that I died inside. I couldn’t believe it and I couldn’t stop freaking out the instant I saw “iamleroysanchez started following you”. I wish I could type out how I felt, but it would be impossible. AHHH, MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!

Almost all my friends in the industry and my classmates know that I’m a huge fan. For instance, a few weeks ago, I had a shoot for a new product coming out in the market. They were requiring me to “kiss” the product and the crew said, “Isipin mo na lang si Leroy ‘yan!” LOL MOMENT.

We also have this “Daily DJ” thing in my 4-hour Draping class wherein we assign one student to be in charge of the songs to be played while we’re designing and making clothes. No matter who the Daily DJ is, we always make sure that he/she will play one or two of Leroy’s songs. My classmates are huge fans, too!!! It is true that great minds think alike, creative minds think together. Hahaha!

I don’t always follow internationally famous people and favorite their tweets and IG posts, but when I do, I choose the best. Seriously, he has the looks and the talent. He has a penchant for art as well! *melts* Check his YouTube account and you’ll understand me! ;)
