After my short trip to Hong Kong, I got invited to have a staycation at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati with my closest friends in the blogosphere — Tracy, Pax, Ana, Sarah and Paul. Returning home after a vacation usually feels like a punishment for temporarily ignoring my responsibilities. There are things that must immediately be attended to and which could have been completely avoided had I not left the country. That’s why the timing of the staycation was perfect. It was like extending my vacation, but rather than traveling to another far location, I went on a getaway that’s just within driving distance from my home. I like Makati City because it’s where some of the best restaurants are located and it’s where you can shop-’til-you-drop! In this area, there are huge shopping malls all connected to each other, including Glorietta (it’s conveniently adjacent to Holiday Inn), Greenbelt, Landmark and SM.

When Tracy and I arrived at the hotel, we were swiftly taken straight to our room. It was really spacious! The room had an LED TV, a mini-bar with refrigerator, a work desk, a chair, a coffee table, and two comfy queen size beds. We loved the pillows! The words “soft” and “firm” were embroidered on them so guests can select which type of pillow they wish to rest their heads on. We also didn’t have to take any of our own toiletries out of our bags because we had everything we needed! Plus, there’s a free Wi-Fi in our room!

We actually had three rooms to share among the six of us, but since we’re clingy, we turned Paul and Sarah’s room as our meeting point. It’s where we hung out, exchanged laughs and stories over food and drinks. A few hours before the clock struck twelve, we went to Oz Bar by the pool at the roof deck of the hotel to chill and enjoy the night view of the city. I think we slept at around 4:00am. We didn’t want the night to end because we were having so much fun. But, despite sleeping late, we still woke up early for the buffet at Flavors Restaurant! The breakfast spread had an opulent selection to ensure that our day gets off to the perfect start. After breakfast, we took our #OOTD’s and group #selfie’s before checking out, and eventually bid goodbye to our staycation.

As soon as we stepped out of the hotel, oddly enough, we felt like we were in a different country — as if we came from a legit vacation abroad. We plan to take more staycations in the near future! I highly recommend that you guys do the same. A staycation can often be more rewarding than a vacation simply because there is minimal to no travel stress and it costs less money.
