Khao San’s nightlife is one of the hottest nightlife scenes in Bangkok. The entire strip boasts some of Bangkok’s trendiest bars and nightclubs, with a hip and international crowd to match. It’s definitely worth devoting a night for. My friends and I enjoyed the place so much that we went there for three consecutive nights!
There’s no shortage of choices. There’s a dungeon-like underground music lounge, a rooftop shisha bar with live concerts, an Irish themed pub, and a bar with a sports ambiance to suit every mood, taste and budget.
Our minds were fixed on finding out more about the food that are served on the carts that line the streets of Bangkok. Yes, we’re not picky eaters!
There are so many little shops selling clothes and accessories. You’ll definitely be able to fine tune your bargaining skills as you haggle for everything from T-shirts to swimwear. Although the items are generally a little more expensive. Try Chatuchak Weekend Market and Pratunam Shopping Area for a real bargain!
Just walk around and you’ll see some very talented artists selling their paintings and photographs on the side of the street, some vendors selling embroidered and beaded bracelets, and people asking for donations. Numerous spots along this famous street, you will also see foreigners getting inked and getting their hair made into dreadlocks.
There are many places to get a massage on this street. It’s the perfect way to end a long day of sightseeing!
Khao San is the best place to people watch (not in a creepy stalker way of course). There are heaps of backpackers roaming the streets, intermingling with street vendors and tuk tuk drivers, among others. It’s really hard not to stare at all the various characters hanging out.
Every place has its share of nitwits, but as a traveler, you seem much less likely to meet them. I love meeting new people and talking to them. We met two fantastic couples from Amsterdam and the States, a group of friends from Canada who gave us random roses, and so on. The world is full of friendly, generous people indeed.
This is definitely the place to grab a local beer or a bucket! I don’t usually drink beer, but I really enjoyed drinking Singha beer! It’s popular outside Thailand too, since it’s exported to many foreign countries. Even if you’re not after a big night out, you can just sit and watch the nightlife happen around you.
Khao San is truly a remarkable place that’s full of surprises! We can’t wait to be back!
